JPA
Abstract
The Java Persistence API (JPA), initially defined by the EJB3 expert group, is the prevalent specification in the Java ORM (Object-relational mapping) world. It provides developer with a POJO (Plain Old Java Object) persistence model to relational databases. It is available on full-blown JavaEE application servers, lightweight containers and even to rich desktop applications. With hand-on examples, we'll cover all you need to know to develop and deploy rich-domain model applications using JPA.
During this session, you'll get enough insight in the JPA specifications to avoid common pitfalls usually encountered by teams not understanding enough of the framework, such as: Object identity, entity life-cycle, complex mappings, performance & fetch strategies. We'll also share tips & tricks on implementing, mapping and testing your model's persistence on both server (JavaEE & Spring) and client side (Swing desktop application). The session also highlights the current voids of the 1.0 specification and how these are addressed by vendors and JPA 2.0.
