XQuery and XSLT : efficient data manipulation

It is common, in SOA project, to integrate systems that are close to each other but slightly different. Oftentimes the difference has mainly to do with different representations of the same core data. You can tackle those tasks through pure programming but it is more efficient to use a tool designed specifically for data transformation. XQuery and XSLT (both derivates of XPath) provide powerful data manipulation and conversion features. Furthermore they are standard-based conversion engines and built into the Java platform.
The presentation will introduce the principles underpinning XQuery and XSLT, demonstrate how to use them in Java and give an update on the state of the standards.
